The Planet

For us, expanding as an organization and reducing our impact on the environment don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Far from it. We’re innovating every day, stepping into the unknown and taking the necessary steps— maintaining our position as a company that works for its clients, and for our planet.

A Sustainable Tomorrow

We are continually devising new means of measuring and minimizing our impact on the planet. From sustainable supply chain solutions and product life cycle assessments to a host of sustainability targets we’re busy working towards, we prioritize operating in harmony with the environment at every turn.

100% recyclable, reusable, or compostable by 2025.

A current focus for our clients is sourcing sustainable packaging in order to meet the growing consumer concern that packaging is unsustainable. That’s why it’s our duty to provide all our clients with a packaging option that is recyclable, reusable, or compostable by 2025.

30% decrease in our CO2e emissions by 2030.

Time is of the essence, and the race is on to cut carbon emissions across the globe. One of our priorities is to take urgent action to combat the impact of climate change. That’s why we have set ourselves the target of  a 30% decrease in our CO2e emissions ratio by revenue on our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.

90% of our industrial waste diverted from landfill by 2030.

Wastefulness continues to have a pervasive effect on our planet. While we move towards a circular business model throughout our packaging and manufacturing processes, we’ve set ourselves the ambitious target of diverting over 90% of our industrial waste from landfill from our production sites by 2030.

Absolute water mapping for GPA owned sites by 2025.

The future is pointing to a scarcity of resources, including water, for everyone. In response, we’ve set out to understand our water usage for our manufacturing sites and introduce greater water mapping in order to increase our water efficiencies and absolute water use going forward.

We're reducing our emissions for Scope 1 and 2 for 2030 and 2040.

It’s imperative we get a handle on our direct emissions. That’s why we’re curbing our greenhouse gas emissions – reducing for Scope 1 and 2 by 20% for 2030 and 50% for 2040. (for all of the currently owned GPA sites as of 2021).

A complete understanding of the renewable energy potential of our different sites by 2025.

Our journey to operating on renewable energy wont be easy. To get where we need to be, we’re putting a tailored roadmap together for the different globally positioned sites. In addition to gaining comprehensive insights into different energy usages and pressures of the manufacturing, logistics and office sites, then applying relevant renewable energy initiatives.

localized supply chain solutions

GPA made the decision in 2018 to switch from exclusively employing a globalized supply chain to incorporating a localized strategy. Meaning we can produce and source our products local to the geographical region – and then ship locally within that same region. In turn reducing emissions throughout our operations.

Life Cycle Assessment Lite

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an analysis of the impact one object has on the world around it. This investigation provides us with the metrics and indicators to enable us to evaluate and improve the sustainability of future package designs, highlight potential problem areas and ensure that the environmental goals of our clients are having the intended impact.
